Job description

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join us in an individual contributor role, working on our advanced VR/XR products. This role requires deep expertise and a primary focus on hands-on manual quality assurance, ensuring the quality of our cutting-edge hardware and software. You will need an analytical mind and be able to systematically identify problems in complex systems. You understand electronics—since your work won’t be software-only—and can confidently navigate software systems. If you have done a bit of automation that would be a plus.

This is a highly technical space, and you will be working with some of the industry's leading experts. You do not need to have a background in VR/XR, but you will need to show an interest and aptitude for bridging the gap between customers and deep technology. You still have passion for traditional QA work, and can apply that rigor to sophisticated, integrated solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work as part of a team of expert engineers validating advanced VR/XR products, with a significant focus on thorough, hands-on manual testing.
  • Define detailed test scenarios and comprehensive test plans in collaboration with other QA team members and software teams for Varjo products.
  • Be a key contributor to validating the quality of the complete product by diligently executing manual test plans, performing extensive exploratory testing, and identifying critical issues through hands-on validation.
  • Engage with other teams across the company as a QA ambassador, with a mission to bridge the worlds of hardware and software and advocate for quality based on real-world user interaction and testing insights.
  • While exploring opportunities to innovate how to utilize test automation most efficiently for specific, targeted use cases or to support manual workflows, your primary contribution will be through deep, manual validation.
  • Interpret telemetry data to understand our product's perceived quality in the field, using this insight to inform and refine manual testing strategies.

Our expectations

  • You have 5+ years of hands-on QA experience and are comfortable dedicating over half of your time to manual testing activities.
  • Proven expertise in manual test planning, designing, execution, and exploratory testing for complex, integrated systems (desktop, embedded, connected devices).
  • Proficient with key QA/project tools (Jira, X-Ray, Confluence).
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills with a senior-level ownership of quality.
  • Experience testing VR/XR or similar hardware/software products is highly valued.
  • Experience with test automation concepts, frameworks, or scripting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with interpreting telemetry or analytics data related to product usage or quality is a plus.

By joining us, you’ll get

  • Opportunity to take part in creating the new state-of-the-art in virtual and mixed reality experiences.
  • A low-hierarchy culture with minimal bureaucracy and maximum opportunity for you to take charge of your work.
  • Flexible working conditions, competitive salary, and great benefits.
  • An international working environment with tons of opportunities to learn and grow with the company.

As we are developing the next computing paradigm, we need a versatile team to help ensure that the new realities are designed for everyone. Our multicultural team consists of talents from all around the world, and our daily working language is English. We believe in the power of diversity – where different experiences, backgrounds, and ideas drive innovation and results. Even if your profile is not a perfect match but you want to learn and grow, we’d love to hear from you. Ready to jump into the exciting world of VR/XR? Apply now!

This position will be filled as soon as the suitable candidate is found.
